Manage big virtual environment!

Comentários: I enjoy using vSphere every day to connect to my virtual environment. This makes my job easier when testing application security because I can run tests on multiple machines and in multiple configurations at the same time.

Vantagens:

I really like the reliability of vSphere. It's hard for me to remember situations when I had a problem connecting to the virtual environment or when it was unstable. Working with virtual machines and their configuration is very simple. Restoring machines to their initial state or reconfiguring them takes little time and you can focus on their effective use.

Desvantagens:

If I were to change something in vSphere it would be the User Interface UI. Unfortunately, tab navigation and menus are not well designed and require some getting used to. Better interface planning could improve productivity and user satisfaction.

Perfect for hosting private clouds on-prem

Comentários: Largley positive, but when there is an incident affecting the entire cluster, you can expect to have a bad day. For example if there are locking issues within the cluster against a fibre-channel storage array, you may need to reboot the entire cluster resulting in an outage of 100% of all infrastructure on the platform.

Vantagens:

The web UI makes it very easy to manage ESXi hosts and their configuration, as well as individual VM configuration. It is simple to setup an HA toplogy with numerous VMs running on a cluster of ESXi (hypervisor) hosts. DRS makes it simple to automatically migrate VMs between hosts in a cluster.

Desvantagens:

The licencing of features is complex, and base level licences preclude feature such as storage vMotion and DRS. This should be part of the base offering. The vSphere API is a bit clunky and the SDKs available in python are quire fragmented. No infrastructure as code offerings are made as all configuration is generally done manually by clicking the mouse, or via manual CLI commands.

This is a powerful tool to virtualize datacenter

Comentários: Our servers are on this platform, it allows us to control resources and migrate data to other servers without stopping the service. We have some servers in this platform as a contingency if we have any failure of one of the servers we started the contingency,

Vantagens:

It allows you to virtualize both Linux and Windows, you have a portal where you can see all the virtualizations, with ESxi you can have the same virtualized server with other virtual machines as a guest operating system which can be Windows or Linux

Desvantagens:

When we use the web client, the refresh times to access data are way to slow. When we try to support VMware remotely using the client, my experience is that it is slower and slower The Web client seems to have many things that are not useful

VMware is the best solution to virtualization

Comentários: VMware is the very stable and very easy to management, really the price is expensive but the features and services are the best option in the market of virtualization.

Vantagens:

-VMotion service to migrate virtual machines in real time is amazing. -The stability of the system working with clusters is the best option the in the market. -A lot compatibility with physical storages -Amazing management to discover datastores created in the physical storages. -The security updates to fix vulnerabilities are published very quick. -The dashboard to management our clusters is very easy to see and very light to load a lot of data in the dashboards. -The upgrades improve the VMware environment with new capabilities in storages and new OS published.

Desvantagens:

-Since January 2025 the prices increased in a 600% in the licenses, in others subsidiaries the prices increased around 1000%. -Now the prices are very expensive.

Great software to manage virtual machines

Comentários: Is great to manage virtual environment, in our case we manage servers and is great to have an easy access and control most of the stuff.

Desvantagens:

Sometimes it got freeze and affects your activities

vSphere - a leading server virtualization platform

Comentários: vSphere is powerful and versatile virtualiztion platform that offers robust features and high performance.

Vantagens:

Well established product within the industry. High performance with great scalability and robust security.

Desvantagens:

High licensing fees after Broadcom's acquisition. Complexity and hardware dependencies also play an important role. "Support" could be better as well. Since the support is outsourced, finding a resolution to complex issue can be time consuming.

Tool to manage and control several VMs in an environment easily

Comentários: Gives a quick look of current deployed VMs and state. Also view the resource allocation and usage.

Vantagens:

vSphere servers the purpose of managing and controlling multiple VMs in an environment setup.

Desvantagens:

The layout can be more user friendly in terms of size and options to expand/collapse.

Using vSphere virtualization on your company

Comentários: I have been working with vsphere for around 8 years now, and I can say, it has been a really good experience, I even got my vsphere 7 certification, it is a really good virtualization product, that offers you HA, and a really high resilience, it is useful for all type of size environments.

Vantagens:

Having several VMS using vmware technology to take advantage of less physical hardware

Desvantagens:

The new licensing model implemented by Broadcom

VmWare vSphere is the best

Comentários: I use Vsphere daily to manage Virtual Environments. I like the interface, clean, intuitive and easy to use

Vantagens:

Vsphere is a must when you manage Virtual Machines / Storage and their environment. Fro the Vsphere Client Dashboard you can see all your VM, the storages and for every VM you can create/delete a new one, change the settings, do some actions such as reboot, power on/off, take (and revert) snapshots, move the VM to another node/storage, just to tell some actions you could do. Obviously you can connect to selected VM (without the need of using RDP or SSH for example). There is a lot of documentation on internet if you need information or support.

Desvantagens:

it seems the price will increase a lot for Italy customers

Comentários: Very satisfied with the features it offers and robustness

Vantagens:

vSphere is a product of VMware and I have known this product in and out since ESX3.x

Desvantagens:

Sometimes it might not suit for all scales of businesses

vSphere One of the best virtualization tools

Comentários: Very happy, virtualization of servers is very important in the 2022 ICT world. vSphere works great, we use it for all of our customers and integrate it with DR tools

Vantagens:

The way of use, very easy, stable solution, support of several types of hardware (and software, marktpleader, integration with DR solutions.

Desvantagens:

The price for using a version with several features you want can be expensive for the SMB companies but it works great! So it's the hogher price double worth!

Comentários: Been using that software for years very easy to learn and deploy

Vantagens:

Take one host - install 20 Virtual Machines Take a few hosts - make a redundant cluster.

Desvantagens:

Price is high and you pay usually by cpu count.

vSphere demonstrates its efficiency, thanks to the use and automation of the service.

Desvantagens:

Everything is perfect, it helps us a lot in our infrastructure.

Desvantagens:

Does not provide in depth error analysis on servers that fail either due to power or network failure

Vantagens:

Its easy to use. Can create VM pools to hold applications and operating systems. There isn't a long learning curve to get certified.

Desvantagens:

The products are not free and you do need a license or subscription to use it.

My experience virtualizing productivity environment for the growth of services

I have worked for a few years in virtualization, using virtual environments completely or mixed environments, virtual - physical, and MWware vSphere has shown me to be a hypervisor, taking full advantage of the processing capacity of each host, so taking advantage of the centralized administration that is achieved through VMware Vcenter, the large number of configurations of networks and virtual networks give an additional value to product. Likewise the use of multiple operating systems allows me to have a server farm with a variety of services to our customers to meet their needs 100%. Actually working VMware vSphere together with VMware vCenter is the greatest benefit cost advantage, since we have significant savings in terms of equipment maintenance, licensing, space saving, energy savings and man hours dedicated to supervising a physical environment as such.

Desvantagens:

The daily work of the vSphere tool has helped me to know it and not only know its advantages and benefits but also its few weak points, however its greatest weakness may be its high cost, which for implementations in small business environments can be very difficult. of implementing since a technological infrastructure of process of a great capacity is required and the cost in the licensing would affect in an important way the cash flow, and it would be underutilized. Without the integration of VMware Vcenter 100% all the benefits of VMware vSphere would not be used. Equally, the training of the staff would also have a huge cost, even though the training by the technical staff is excellent, there is also the virtual training that gives the advantage of cost savings, however it is not as effective as in person.

Vmware Vsphere the best Hypervisor with rich features for every need

Comentários: Well we have over 80% of our workloads virtualize with VMware vSphere. We haven't have a mayor issue with the virtual environment. We can optimize the investment of the infrastructure and also respond to the business needs quickly when there is need. The support it is also really great. If you have a active support, they help with any issue really quickly and with a good solution. I can sleep well knowing that the business services are support by VMware vSphere platform.

Vantagens:

Vmware vsphere its a really great hypervisor that can virtualize compute and storage resources right out of the box. I like the fact that you can easly manage the resources and create virtual machines in a intuitive way. The configuration of the storage connection is easy. It has great compatibility with just about any harware out there. We have at our organization more the 70 esxi host with different hardware vendors, but they all are compatible and I can migrate workloads with just a few clicks.

Desvantagens:

Maybe the price of the licenses. If you work at a enterprise, maybe that it not a issue. But if you want to have all the cool feature, you will have to purchase the enterprise plus license. It can be a little expensive.

vSphere

Comentários: We went virtual in 2007 using vSphere and have never looked back. vSphere is the backbone of our datacenter environments and has allowed us to provide resources for application owners as well as integrate with products like VMWare Site Recovery Manager, so we can protect our data across multiple datacenters. It is a fantastic product.

Vantagens:

When managed via vCenter, distributing virtual machines amongst distributed resources is about the most powerful aspect of this product. It allows administrators to maximize value from hardware purchases and create internal redundancies and high availability.

Desvantagens:

vSphere 7 introduced a new strategy in the use of the host boot disk to the point that certain types of boot disks were burning out and causing host servers to crash. VMWare now forcing customers to buy new hardware for existing hosts in order to avoid downtime.

Struggle to survive?

Comentários: It is a great software, even masterpiece in some aspects. But it feels as it requires too much resources and money to be justified in the most of cases. Most of consumers aren't going need it especially as there are free alternatives.
Still one should carefully consider whether it is time for say Kubernetes or the company's requirements demands something bigger and more sophisticated.

Vantagens:

It still a well-known and - which is more important - widely adopted solution tightly coupled with other VMWare products. it is very easy to hire required specialist or get help. In 2019 VSphere did a huge step forward embracing Kubernetes as a first-class citizen. Implies very strict and much safier application (vm/containers - depends on the poin of view and scenario) separation. Para-virtualization sometimes delivers on it's promise to speed up containers.

Desvantagens:

It is just way too huge without real benefits. Yes, it is offers a better separation of your components as every vm acts like separate computer. Yes, it is capable to run containers. Metrics are there, too and they are quite good. But. Do you really need it? There is much tinier alternatives . Kubernetes or Docker Swarm (can't recommend that one though) while being the solutions of a different class may still be enough for a vast major of scenarios. On top of that, vSphere is costly not in terms of licensing, it also requires a quite different hardware.

I would choose no other virtualization platform

Comentários: As an administrator for VMware-related hypervisors and products, I would choose no other hypervisor or virtualization platform to run in my datacenter.

Vantagens:

As a hypervisor, vSphere is and has been the best in class. They are always the first to come out with essential features (vMotion, vSwitch, etc.) and these features become daily used and reliable. I've administered hundreds of VMs over my career and have had little issue from vSphere as a hypervisor. Their feature set is phenomenal, and support is very good as well. Licensing can get costly, but there are several versions to fit your needs. What's perhaps more impresive is that as a platform, vSphere can be built into other VMware components (vCenter, SRM, vRealize, etc.) which keeps growing. Entering vSphere opens your datacenter up to a entrire world of virtualization products, and most third-party products that integrate with virtualization start with vSphere.

Desvantagens:

It is easy to get up and running, but it can also get complex depending on what you want to do. It can also get costly if you cannot get discounts and need full feature set.

They're the market leader for a reason, but so many features means complicated UX

Vantagens:

Every feature an hypervisor can offer - widest feature set and ecosystem to deliver the most comprehensive solution. They scale very well across all parameters: Cluster size, datastore size, VM count, fault tolerance at scale Etc. Their VSAN is great for ROBO deployments, as you get a single pane of glass for all layers (compute, network, storage) HA / DRS / VSMC are all excellent tools for improving availability of the applications that drive the business.

Desvantagens:

Every feature means a complicated GUI, with way too many nobs to turn for a small deployment. They VSAN scales poorly in terms of ROI, as more often than not you need the All-Flash VSAN, which after 2-3 copies of the data yields low capacity at double or triple the cost of the (already expensive) Flash Media. Replication is nice but again limited in scale, works great in getting data off the ROBOs to the main datacenter but not scalable enough as a DR solution

My Efficient Virtual Space

VSphere is best and most efficient platform for manging virtual machine we can easily share the physically stored machine in the data centre to our client through the Vsphere , we can access and quickly resolve the issues of client using vsphere More well oraganizly

Desvantagens:

It’s most costly software but it provides lot of features but if you want to give suppose 20000 vms so you need to get the packages according your criteria, because each of version contains various no of vm’s such like vsphere 6.0 contain 10000 to 20000 , vsphere 7.0 contain 20000 to 30000 such like that so we need to pay accordingly our requirement so i think the price can differ and anyone can afford it for small businesses

Virtualization = VMware

Comentários: We no longer have to worry about buying new physical servers. We have 2 HPE blades chassis and 2 HPE Synergy across 4 location. VM migration between data centers is very helpful.
hardware is being utilized at almost 85% and overall cost is certainly reduced.

Vantagens:

I have been using VMware for almost 12 years, day to day operations had never been so easy. easy implementation and administration. we converted 95% of our server to virtual machines. My favorites features are online migration, high availability and DRS .

Desvantagens:

I didn't and still don't like the web interface, the old Windows application prior to version 5.5 was perfect and very effective. now with the new flash based interface is dissapointing. there is another HTML5 version but it lacks some features. i am hoping that they come up with a new version these days knowing that Flash plugins will no be longer supported.

Extremely expensive but still worth it for legacy applications

Comentários: vSphere revolutionized the datacenter and is still running strong after almost 30 years. Without it we might still be stuck in the stone ages without virtualization or cloud!

Vantagens:

vSphere has been around for a while and is trusted for it's stability and reliability. If your applications are not built to fail, if you treat yours apps like pets vs cattle, you probably want to pay for VMware vSphere. Depending on your use case, vSphere may be the only game in town. For instance, if you want to do some complicated GPU sharding, only VMware has worked with Nvidia to offer this. Certainly feature wise, this is the most robust hypervisor on the market. They also have a large ecosystem, community, and excellent support.

Desvantagens:

The pricing is quite high and they try to justify this by including more and more management software, SDN, SDS in the overall vCloud offering. However it's still quite expensive and difficult to rationalize in smaller companies with challenging budgets. On the flip side, they have so many offerings now and have create a variety of total solutions which can fit any number of use cases.

Best Hypervisor out there

Comentários: It's super easy to setup and get started, it's something that should be done in every single company I've seen in my life. Sadly, not all companies use VMs to my personal surprise. Only if they could understand how easy it is to transform your business environment with ease using VMware tools. Premium versions offer real value, so if you need more than 4-5 servers and a rock solid production environment you should invest in vSphere.

Vantagens:

The console, the features, the true power of a hypervisor. I use ESXi/vShpere in every chance I get. It's super-light and very easy to manage, understand. Many benefits, it's a no-brainer!

Desvantagens:

Nothing serious, maybe it's lack of integration tools and features like copy-paste and file transfer. But really, that's something small and not needed when it comes to server use.
